What is a storage?

This is the keeping of an item for future use. It takes place in two(2) forms;

• Primary Storage:

Is the automatic form of storage in the computer. The computer effects this storage when there is power supply and when it is on.

Characteristics of primary storage

1. Its automatic
2. Its not permanent
3. Its not retrievable

• Secondary Storage:

This is not automatic. The operator effects it by a command known as saving.

Characteristics of secondary storage:

1. Its not automatic
2. Its permanent
3. Its retrievable
4. The device for secondary storage are: Flash drive, floppy disk, etc.
